Education and Leadership Philosophy

  • Each student is an individual and learns in various ways.  The goal is to discover those ways and present the surgical technology material where it can be comprehended through all learning styles.
  • "No Student Left Behind."  Any student struggling to grasp the material require early intervention and must receive assistance in a timely fashion through tutoring or other study options to improve understanding and scores.
  • Instructors and Program Directors must remember their former status as students and understand the fear and apprehension.  They will be addressed to aid in the success of each student through fair, supportive measures.
  • To properly prepare students, educators must stay abreast of changes and progressions in the field.  Frequent continuing education, professional development seminars and workshops must be attended to ensure the proper material is presented.
  • Every instructor is different in their presentation of the material.  Frequent observations and evaluations of teaching styles are necessary to guarantee students comprehend the material.  In-service training and/or webinars may be necessary for tips and tools on successful instruction.
  • The ultimate goal of any program is to produce skilled, qualified surgical technologists successful in passing the CST exam and obtaining employment.
